Currently the Company is looking to hire a:
Drilling Engineer
This exciting growth and development position will be part of the Drilling & Completions group, and will work with the operations groups to assist the Drilling Coordinator in programming and implementation of horizontal well drilling operations in the Horn River Basin. The candidate in this role will assist in management of multiple concurrent drilling operations and act as drilling engineer and superintendent for these rigs. They will research and prepare detailed drilling procedures and AFEs for deep, high temperature, long reach horizontal wells; and prepare detailed drilling procedures and AFEs for shale gas operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for drilling procedures that include casing and cementing designs, bit and hydraulic programs and drill string design. They will keep informed of new technology, and make value added recommendations to apply this technology on projects.
The Drilling Engineer must be available to take calls from the rig 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A schedule of relief will be implemented.
The ideal candidate will be a team player with the following skills:
* APEGGA professional petroleum engineer with 5 – 8 years related experience or Petroleum Technologist with 7 – 10 years of related experience.
* Must be familiar with directional and horizontal drilling
* Strong communication skills – verbal and written
* Strong abilities using Microsoft excel spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office
* Communication skills are essential, as are organizational skills
* Ability to work independently and as a team member
