Job Description
RTI International is seeking a public health research analyst in support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded program to support PEPFAR’s public health evaluation (PHE) initiatives of the Government of Tanzania (GOT). The RTI Public Health Research Analyst will work in close collaboration with CDC Tanzania, the PHE implementing teams, and project partners, including institutions such as National Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) and MUHASto build and strengthen local capacity in the implementation of public health research and evaluation. Capacity building of local research partners is a core aspect of this program.

Responsibilities
Position Duties:
• Provide technical assistance for the design of operations research and evaluation in the program area of HIV/AIDS.
• Assist in designing/developing methods of data collection.
• Write sections for study protocols for public health research and evaluation in HIV/AIDS, including study design and statistical analyses.
• Provide technical assistance and oversee the implementation of data management and data monitoring tasks for single study, multisite research and evaluation.
• Coordinate and supervise research activities (e.g. data collection, data entry, data management, and data analysis) conducted by partners and sub-contractors.
• Conduct site monitoring visits to assess quality of research activities and provide technical assistance to support areas in need of improvement.
• Assisting with the resolution of problems as they occur in the field; documenting problems and solutions so that standard procedures are put in place to avoid similar problems in the future.
• Review and provide feedback in the development of study protocols, abstracts, and materials for dissemination.
• Assist with training counterparts in all aspects of operations research and evaluation.
• Perform statistical analyses as needed, including routine data monitoring and quality assurance tasks.
• Prepare sections of project reports or entire project reports.

Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in public health, nursing, medicine or other health-related field is desired. A master’s degree in the social sciences may also be considered.
• 5 years of related experience with increasing level of responsibilities preferred.
• Applications from Tanzania nationals are highly desired;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Swahili.
• Demonstrated expertise in training and capacity building in public health, preferably in HIV/AIDS research.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
