Position Description:
The CAMH Schizophrenia program has a focus upon the development and implementation of promising approaches to community-based mental healthcare. One project that will be implemented in the spring of 2011 is the development of a modified version of Cognitive Adaptation Training (CAT) to address the cognitive impacts of schizophrenia on our clients. Addressing the cognitive impacts of schizophrenia is a vital avenue for intervention as the attention, memory, and problem solving difficulties experienced by most people with schizophrenia have a profound impact on their quality of life. CAT is a standardized approach to the use of environmental supports for improving multiple domains of adaptive functioning, including adherence to medication, grooming, and activities of daily living in patients with schizophrenia. Reporting to the Schizophrenia Program Head of Psychological Services, the Psychometrist will support the implementation and evaluation of a CAT service within the Schizophrenia Program outpatient services. The Psychometrist will be responsible for and oversee the data collection process to ensure high levels of data integrity. The successful candidate will also administer neuropsychological assessments and surveys evaluating symptomatology in the course of data collection. The candidate will also be involved in providing oversight of the evaluation, coding, entering, and managing data in SPSS. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment. The Psychometrist will also participate in the preparation of presentations and project reports. Qualifications:
The successful candidate will, at minimum, have a Masters degree in Psychology or equivalent and at least one year of related experience. A background in completion of surveys and assessments with individuals with serious mental illness is required, with experience in neuropsychological testing being an asset. Candidates will have demonstrated experience with confidential data storage, data entry, and experience with SPSS is preferred. Knowledge of PC software skills, including Microsoft Office, is required. Demonstrated strong communication (oral/written) skills along with the ability for independent working and collaboration/teamwork are required. The candidate has good organizational skills and can meet deadlines.
The ability to work with a diverse inter-professional team and other stakeholders is required. Eligibility for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario as a Psychological Associate is an asset. Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.
Please note: This full-time, 12-month contract position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.
Salary Range: $30.44 – $41.03 per hour
