Possible Preventive Measures to Noise Pollution

The control of noise pollution and
prevention of noise trauma can be achieved by using the following measures:
·
Reduction of Noise Production: By using less noisy machines and by
fitting noise mufflers and silencers.
·
Appropriate heath education: to workers, employers and the general
public about the effect of noise on heath and the related preventive measure.
·
Vegetation (trees) along roads and in residential areas is a
good way to reduce noise pollution as they absorb sound.

·
Noise producing industries, airports, bus and transport
terminals and railway stations to sighted far from where living places (Eschool,
2008).
·
Suitable Legislation: To prevent noise pollution and to
award compensation for noise trauma (Olojoba 2009)
·
Relocation of Production Process: The production process responsible for
the noise can be transferred to another location, to reduce the effect of the
noise on worker.
·
Noise can be controlled by shielding its source with
materials that can absorb it, instead of reflecting it and increasing its echo.
·
The use of personal protective equipment such as ear plugs
or ear muffs by workers offers a very good method of keeping such employees
safe from the harmful effects of noise (Nwachukwu, 2000).
