Cardno has recently
been shortlisted for the DFID-funded Programme and Fund Management of AgriTT
Programme. Cardno is the lead firm of a highly experienced consortium
including a local partner based in Beijing, and an international partner with a
permanent presence in Beijing.
This programme is
part of the “Working with China to Accelerate Agricultural Technology Transfer
to Low Income Countries (AgriTT)” Programme, a joint initiative of DFID in
China, Africa, and South East Asia. This programme covers work to support
technology transfer of agricultural technologies between China, UK and
low-income countries in Africa and Asia. The Impact of the AgriTT is to
enhance food security in Low income countries in Africa and Asia. The
outcome is to accelerate agricultural technology from China and the UK to these
countries (in this case Uganda, Malawi and a country in South East Asia –
possibly Myanmar)
strategy for the establishment of three pilots, including one in Malawi needs
to be developed including detail on: implementing partners; investment
requirements; staffing; business planning and communications. A Pilot
Strategy Planner is therefore required to plan each of the three pilots,
working closely with other team members, particularly the Head of the Programme
Management office based in China.

- Relevant
experience (preferably 7 years plus) of working in on agricultural
development programmes in Malawi - Practical
experience of agriculture and aquaculture value chains in Malawi - Experience
in working with agricultural research institutes, extension services and
farmer associations as well as the private sector in Malawi - Knowledge
of agricultural technology transfer in Malawi - Expertise
in strategic planning including demonstrable experience of preparing
costed plans - Ability
to work with flexibility, efficiency, enthusiasm, and diplomacy both
independently and as a member of a team - Familiarity
with DFID policies and systems would be an advantage - Strong
oral and written communication and presentation skills in English,
proficiency in local language being an advantage
