PhD Scholarship Programme in Global Change and Climate Economics, Sweden

Applications
are invited for six full PhD scholarships in the field of Global Change and
Climate Economics at the University of Gothenburg. Scholarships are only open
to applicants from developing countries and in particular Bangladesh, Bolivia,
Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania,
Uganda and Zambia. The program span is four to five years. Application should
be submitted till 1st April, 2014.

Description:
The
Environmental Economics Unit (EEU) at the University of Gothenburg, in
collaboration with the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics, offer six full
scholarships in a PhD program in Global Change and Climate Economics with
admission September 2014. Deadline for application is 1 April, 2014. These
scholarships are only open to applicants from developing countries and in
particular Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Kenya, Mali,
Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. The choice of these countries
has been made by the Swedish Government on the basis of long-term development

Six full scholarships are offered.
Duration
of award(s): 
The
program span is four to five years, of which the first two years consist of
compulsory coursework in mathematics, statistics, econometrics, micro- and
macroeconomics.
What
does it cover? 
The
programme will pay excursion airfares as well as an appropriate monthly
allowance (SEK 16 000) to cover personal expenses and accommodation (which will
be arranged by us). Computers, books and data collection are covered by the
programme. The programme starts in the first week of September 2014. Students
are requested to arrive a few days prior to this week.
Selection
criteria:

-Strong background in economics, at least a master’s degree.
-Institutional affiliation, such as universities, research institutes etc.
-Must come from a developing country, see above list.
-Analytical ability.
-Priority for Women.
-Documented interest in resource and environmental issues.
How

-A detailed CV, including academic transcripts, teaching experience and current
employment
-Your CV must be detailed concerning your knowledge of economics, particularly
micro, mathematics, statistics and econometrics. Be sure to include grades that
can easily be interpreted, and if in doubt describe the content, literature,
length, etc. of key courses
-We also need to receive at least two letters of recommendation, in particular
statements indicating how the candidate performs academically and how he or she
could contribute to existing plans for building capacity in climate and

been teaching, please provide detailed information on the courses taught
