Reporting
to the General Manager and based in the Kabanga Nickel office in Dar es Salaam,
the successful candidate will have the following
Key
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and manage a
comprehensive recruiting procedure for Kabanga, providing guidelines for
managers to strictly follow through the recruiting process - Establish the compensation and
benefit philosophy and practices at Kabanga ensuring consistency with
Shareholders compensation and benefits strategies/practices, legal
compliance, competitiveness and cultural fit. - Adapt, implement and monitor
Xstrata Nickel performance management systems, ensuring cultural fit and
effectiveness. - Develop a performance
monitoring system to evaluate construction employees as potential
operations candidates - Develop, implement and manage a
plan to employ and train Tanzanians. - Develop succession planning
strategy, supporting the transition of work from expatriates to nationals - Work with management to
maintain a positive workforce environment, implementing different means to
communicate with employees regarding activities at the operation, safety
and production goals, etc. (for example, bulletin boards, staff meetings,
information sessions, newsletters) - Work closely with Kabanga’s
Business Services Manager on administering the payroll - Implement and manage an
effective Human Resources Information System (HRIS) - Work closely with Sustainable
Development Manager and External Relations Manager to ensure positive
community and government relations.
Desired
Skills & Experience
Candidate
profile:
The
desirable candidate must possess the following qualities:
- At least 10 years of
international experience in Human Resources management with a private
sector company, preferably mining related (experience in East
Africa/Tanzania is highly valued). Experience as a HR generalist with
construction and/or operations experience is also desirable. - Strong interpersonal,
organizational, communication/listening, coaching and mentoring skills - Ability to work both
independently and as a member of a team - Ability to manage/resolve
conflict - Strong oral and written
communication skills in English and exceptional social skills in a cross-cultural
context. Strong oral and written communications in Kiswahili is highly
valued - Strong presentation skills.

decision-making skills under pressure - Strong ethical values and
commitment to maintaining high standards of corporate social
responsibility - High energy and enthusiasm
- Excellent relationship
building, negotiation and influencing skills - Ability/flexibility to travel
to site monthly (Ngara)
