Purpose:
To assist the Portfolio & Investment Management team and provide senior level legal support associated with the acquisition, disposal and development of real estate assets.
Duties & Responsibilities:
– Creation & maintenance of a central repository of all strategic legal and other documents (i.e. leases, franchising agreements, legal actions etc.)
– Review of all legal documents for final review by SVP and/or President
– Coordination & preparation of all Board of Directors and ownership packages & presentations
– Coordination of all renewals & on-going agreements for real estate assets;
– Ensure compliance with all franchise & license agreements by various
– Responsible for adherence by SBHR to requirements of Asset Management Agreement
– Assist due diligence efforts by Real Estate Group for potential acquisitions, including record keeping and access to data
Preferred Education & Qualifications:
– Paralegal or legal assistant diploma with 5-7 years paralegal experience within a large corporate office environment
– General knowledge of the Canadian real estate business and applicable legislation
– Previous experience with reviewing contracts, leases and other real estate documents.
– Strong analytical skills and ability to resolve problems by researching, analyzing, interpreting issues
– Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills
– Excellent time management and organization skills
– Attention to detail and proofreading ability
– Self-motivated professional, able to work independently, and as part of a team, with minimal supervision
– Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
