Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, led by Music Director Jeanne Lamon, is one of the
world?s leading period performance ensembles. All members of the orchestra are
specialists in historical performance practice, and their collaboration results
in a delightful transparency, vitality and richness of sound. Tafelmusik is the
Baroque Orchestra in Residence at the Faculty of Music of the University of
Toronto. The Tafelmusik Chamber Choir, specializing in baroque performance practice
and vocal technique, was formed in

1981 to complement the orchestra. Founded in
1979, Tafelmusik performs 50 concerts a year at home in Toronto, tours
extensively around the world, and has a discography of 74 award-winning CDs,
including nine that have won Juno awards for “Best Classical Album”
and a 2005 Grammy Award nomination.
 

Job Description

Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir seeks an
experienced and detail-oriented Operations Coordinator to provide production
and logistics leadership for the organization. Areas of responsibility include
coordination of production/technical/artistic logistics, budgets and staffing
for the Toronto Season (rehearsals, performances, recordings,
education/outreach, Tafelmusik Baroque Summer and Winter Institutes, and
special events); supervision and development of the Orchestra Planning and
Administration System (OPAS); administration of the Chamber Choir; and
coordination of work permits, visas and other support documentation for tours.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Coordinator will work
closely with the Music Director, Assistant to the Music Director, venues,
presenters and staff to fulfil all production/technical/artistic requirements
for Tafelmusik’s Toronto-area services (mainstage, runouts, special events,
education/outreach, Tafelmusik Baroque Summer and Winter Institutes, recordings
and auditions), including staging, lighting, sound, instrument/equipment
transfers and staffing. He/she will prepare all production/logistical/budget
documentation and artist communications with efficiency, accuracy and attention
to detail. He/she will coordinate all Operations activities, schedules and
records through the OPAS system, overseeing future systems development, and
will administer all choir activities including contracts, schedules and
rehearsal preparation. He/she will service all work permit, visa, tax and grant
submission requirements for Tafelmusik tours in consultation with the Managing
Director and Director of Operations. This position involves evening/weekend
work and some travel.
 

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be a highly-organized,
energetic and collaborative professional, having: – Excellent operations and/or
production coordination experience – Strong organizational experience with
ability to plan and manage multiple projects, details, budgets and deadlines –
Proficiency with sound, lighting and other technical systems – Sound knowledge
of Microsoft Office suite, production/technical software & tools; familiarity
with OPAS an asset – Tour coordination experience an asset – High professional
standards and values, with attention to accuracy and detail – An effective and
caring ambassador for artists and other stakeholders – Proactive/flexible
nature with ability to problem-solve – Strong interest in classical music and
the performing arts – A related post-secondary degree or diploma – A minimum of
3-5 years’ experience in a performing arts organization

Orchestra, founded in 1979, is one of the world’s leading period performance
ensembles. The Chamber Choir, specializing in baroque performance and vocal
technique, was formed in 1981 to complement the Orchestra. The Orchestra
performs in over 80 concerts each year in Toronto, travels extensively around
the world, and has released 80-plus recordings on the Sony Classical, CBC
