SUMMARY OF POSITION

Reporting to the Director of Sales and Marketin

g, this position is responsible
for developing, communicating and leading the execution of the co-op pricing
strategy to its members/customers profitability through pricing and
value-capturing activities at both the strategic and tactical levels.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing

Direct Reports: Publications & Promotions Specialist, Pricing Specialist,
Marketing Assistant, Pricing and Administrative Assistant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepares, manipulates and extracts data and information from multiple
internal and external sources and leverages to develop and execute pricing
strategies
• Develops, communicates and monitors price recommendations and guardrails for
deals and products by performing basic pricing analysis or leveraging and
synthesizing advanced analytics of internal and external intelligence.
• Develops, implements and maintains pricing programs designed to enhance
pricing margin
• Develops pricing strategies for various channels in our business that
maximize profitability and ensure predictable pricing
• Works collaboratively and conducts competition pricing analysis to determine
pricing strategy, assists in setting list prices, discounts strategy, and price
policies
• Works effectively across functions such as IT, Marketing and Finance to
design and implement new or enhancements to existing processes, systems, and
tools
• Communicates effectively across the Co-op regarding prioritization
opportunities and key pricing insights
• Manages and maintains company-set target margins
• Develop and implement pricing performance indicators and diagnostic tools
• Supervises the pricing and promotion team, this includes acting as a coach,
mentor and trainer, undertaking hiring and disciplinary action as required and
conducting regular evaluations and meetings
• Assists the Brand Managers, and or Marketing Director in the category and
margin management of price matching and price reduction programs
• Develops and set pricing practices and strategies based on the overall
Pricing Strategy for new products that maximize profit
• Sets Pricing & Publication schedules, reviews and maintains the price matrix
to ensure all pricing and promotions of the members/customers is kept
up-to-date and competitive while making sure maximum profitability is achieved
• Monitors with Management and works with Finance Department to ensure US
Suppliers exchange rates for setting prices for US products is accurate
• Oversees all pricing models in all channels with feedback from Sales leaders
• Manages promotions and pricing contracts in all channels
• Ensures the pricing updates of all vendors are current
• Develops sustainable processes for communications to internal and external
stakeholder’s and ensures effective and efficient management of pricing and
promotions with Sales Department, Vendor and Broker partners
• Works with the Finance Department to protect assets of company by ensuring
that all Manufacturer Charge Backs (MCBs) are entered and billed to the
manufacturer or supplier accurately and timely
• Support the RFP process for various members/customers through development of
pricing models
• Works collaboratively with the IT Department Sales and Marketing team to
implement pricing strategies for the e-commerce environment
• Co-ordinates all marketing campaigns published and unpublished promotions
• Manages bi-monthly catalogues (Wholesale & Display/Shipper catalogues
6/year – Printed, Buying Club catalogue 6/year – PDF) and Show Guides
• Co-ordinates campaigns and all marketing published and unpublished
promotional programs
• Liaise with Brand Managers, and or Brokers/Vendors to manage vendor
promotional annual programs
• Coordinates, updates and maintains monthly new product launches campaigns
(Wholesale and Buying Club)
• Supports the Sales team in resolving any pricing or promotional marketing
issues
• Develops and organizes pricing and margin management training
• Ensures accuracy of published pricing and promotions publications
• Resolves day to day personnel issues where management decisions are required

QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 5 years of related pricing, marketing and publication management
experience
• Prior supervisory experience
• Post-Secondary education in a related field
• Product knowledge or industry experience in a distribution environment is an
asset
• Demonstrated expertise in managing complex projects
• Knowledge of customer deal economics, financial modeling techniques, and
related pricing strategies.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with pricing processes, systems, and
controls and implements as necessary
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior managers and build consensus among
peers, management with diverse priorities
• In-depth knowledge of Desktop Publishing, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel,
Access, PowerPoint) and possess the ability to learn new applications
• Experience with (ERP) Enterprise Resource Planning required
• Experience with Dynamics NAV would be considered an asset
• Exceptional organization and communication skills necessary to collaborate
with other departments, brokers/vendors, customers and members
• Must demonstrate exceptional certainty in maintaining accuracy, attention to
details and creativity
• Works effectively in a team environment and have a willingness to learn in a
quickly changing industry
• Excellent decision-making ability
• Familiarity with cooperatives and/or not-for-profit sector as well as an
interest in organic and natural food would be beneficial
