programmes include;

1.   
Preventive Programmes in
Occupational Health involve;
General cleanliness of the industrial facilities
and surrounding. Specific activities include:
                       
i.
Efficient waste management
                  
ii.  
Washing of floors/drains,
painting of structures, walls and ceiling for aesthetic and psychological
satisfaction.
                 
iii.  
Provision of adequate
ventilation both natural and artificial methods
               
iv.  
Proper lighting of the
working area including working tables to prevent eye strain and accident.
                 
v.  
Provision of adequate
sanitary conveniences.
               
vi.  
Avoidance of overcrowding.
2.   
Rehabilitative Occupational
Health Programme
This covers services
carried out to restore a disabled worker ro a state of normal productive
capacity. It involves economic rehabilitation through payment of compensation.
For and injured worker or
handicapped worker
Therapeutic rehabilitation
which involves restoration of such a worker through adequate treatment to
enable the injured worker functions effectively. Handicapped workers as a
result of injuries may be retrained to be useful in other areas of work which
their health condition can permit.

Promotive Health Services:  These are designed to help employees
appreciate their health and to safeguard health through indulging in lifestyles
that will enhance good health. Such services include;
            
i. 
Recreational activities
e.g. sports and exercises
           
ii. 
Stress management
          
iii. 
Safety education
         
iv. 
Avoidance of
smoking/excessive drinking
           
v. 
Personal hygiene etc.
4.   
 Curative Occupational Health Programme
These are treatment
services provided for workers who get injured or ill in the course of
employment. It covers treatment for both occupational and non-occupational
ailment. The purpose of curative occupational health programme is to secure a
healthy workforce for productivity.
