Norfolk & Norwich Festival (NNF) is one of the flagship arts organisations for the East of England. We are one of the most significant arts festivals in the UK with a reputation for innovative and inspirational programming and commissioning.
Norfolk & Norwich Festival’s profile has increased greatly in recent years, largely due to the success and growth of the May festival which has seen a significant increase in audience numbers, participants and ticket sales. NNF now attracts artists of the highest calibre, is a leader in the presentation of outdoor art and works in collaboration with a wide range of national and international partners. NNF is a destination festival and has contributed to putting Norwich and Norfolk firmly on the map as a place where people choose to live, work and visit.
Following a successful bid to the Arts Council England National Portfolio programme earlier this year, NNF has also been selected to be one of the Arts Council’s 14 national ‘Bridge’ organisations from April 2012. In this additional role NNF will have responsibility for forging strategic relationships with stakeholders and partners across the East of England to deliver a strong artistic and cultural vision for children and young people and making connections with communities, families and schools.
In February 2011, NNF appointed William Galinsky as its new Artistic Director. William’s artistic vision will focus on national and international co-commissioning and co-production of large scale outdoor work, a more integrated community engagement and participation programme with a particular focus on children and young people and increased support for new regional talent in the creation and presentation of Outdoor Arts.
The Director of Participation & Engagement will take lead responsibility for developing and implementing an organisation wide participation and engagement strategy across the organisation’s artistic and operational programme creating projects and opportunities for wider community engagement. S/he will also take lead responsibility for developing and implementing the Arts Council England’s strategic Bridge role relating to developing high quality arts offer to children and young people in the region (0-19).
As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Director of Participation & Engagement will work very closely with the Artistic Director, Executive Director and Executive Producer and will bring with them in excess of 3 years experience of working at a senior level in the cultural sector, experience of strategic planning in relation to arts engagement, participation and children and young people and of managing a small team. S/he will have a demonstrable track record of devising, implementing and evaluating arts engagement and participation programmes of the highest artistic quality which increase the reach and breadth of audiences and improve the depth and quality of engagement.
