Consultancy Services for Development of Buyongwe Sub-Catchment

Expression of Interest
The Kagera River Basin Management Project is one of the three transboundary
integrated water resources management and development projects being
implemented within the framework of the Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action
Program (NELSAP), an investment program of the Nile Basin Initiative. The
Kagera RBM Project wishes to hire an individual consultant to develop a
catchment restoration plan for the Buyongwe Valley subcatchment in the Akanyaru
Sub-watershed, located in the Province of Ngozi in Burundi.
The services required include (i) the assessment of the current status of
Buyongwe subcatchment regarding natural resources and socio-economic structure;
(ii) assessment through a participatory process of the priority problems as
identified by the community and the community perception of reasons of
degradation; (Hi) Development through a participatory process sub catchment
management plans to address the priority problems; and (iv) Defining
arrangements for implementation (institutional, technical and financial) of sub
catchment management plan with a monitoring and evaluation system. The
consultancy is envisaged to take approximately 6 months.
The Nile Basin Initiative now invites eligible individual consultants from
Kagera region to indicate their interest in providing these services.
Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are
qualified to perform the services (CV, description of similar assignments,
experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.).
Individual Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications. A one
page approach and methodology to carry out the assignment is also required. All
applications will be sent on line not later than 19th August 2013 at 17:00
(Kigali time).
A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the
World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants under IBRD
Loans and IDA Credits
& Grants by World Bank Borrowers of January 2011 (“Consultant
