This development has greatly unsettled the many
people who felt that the Nigeria Police do not deserve this increment. This
group of people has of this opinion not because they had wished that the
Nigeria Police should leave in penury, but they obviously do not merit any
salary increment due to their poor performance and unpatriotic attitude towards

In spite of the view of the public, the Nigerian
government has defended their action by saying that the improved salary
structure is in line with the Buhari administration’s quest toward improving
the overall welfare and operational needs of the Nigeria Police Force. The
government has highlighted that this salary increment is geared towards
encouraging the men of the Police Force to take their duties to Nigeria more
seriously.

The government however has expressed worries of
the inability of the Nigeria Police Force to carry out their constitutional
duties of maintaining law and order in the country which has in recent times led
an anomaly that had seen the involvement of The Nigerian Army in maintaining
internal security in the country which is a sole responsibility of the Nigeria
Police.

limited to their involvement in bribery and corruption, unpatriotic approach towards

spared as they will severely punished and shown the way out of the Police
