Location: Salt Spring Island, British Columbia
New Earth Gardens has expanded and is look
ing for a partner for the
upcoming season and possibly beyond. New Earth Gardens practices
non-certified organic intensive gardening growing a variety of
vegetables and berries for market. This years focus will be on
building up the new leased land to expand vegetable production. The
field has been plowed and will need to be fine tuned in the spring. In
the meantime I am setting up fencing, irrigation, gates, planting
bulbs etc. The greenhouse frame is up and awaiting endwalls and
plastic. A potting shed needs to be built and the farmstand for plant
starts is being built.
This is not an internship and I cannot offer housing. Ideally you are
currently living on Salt Spring and adapted to living on this small
island. You may certainly apply otherwise but please be aware that
while Salt Spring is one of the beautiful places in Canada and a huge
tourist destination it is not cheap.
The ideal candadite will have their own vehicle and at least two full
seasons experience. We will work together maintaining two gardens and
working two markets (Tues. and Sat.). No investment is neccesary and I
am completely open to the terms. That said, your commitement to at
least the full season is absolutely neccesary and needs to be worked
into our agreement somehow.
