National Team for Accelerating Poverty Reduction (TNP2K) Economist Job Vacancy in Indonesia

The National Team for Accelerating Poverty Reduction (TNP2K), under the Vice-President Office in Indonesia is seeking an economist to work with the Unified Database for Social Protection Programs unit. This database is used for identifying the beneficiaries of social protection programs; it includes the poorest 40% of households in Indonesia and is the largest database of its kind in the world. He/she will be responsible for coordinating,
supervising and undertaking policy-oriented poverty and targeting research.

The TNP2K is an internal think tank led by the Vice-President of Indonesia and supported by AusAID, under the Poverty Reduction Support Facility (PRSF). The PRSF is a joint facility between AusAID and the Government of Indonesia to improve the quality of policy advice for poverty programs in Indonesia. It is a unique institutional design which provides researchers with privileged access to high-level policymakers. Research findings will be used for evidence-based policy decisions related to the Government of Indonesia’s poverty reduction strategy, including but not limited to improving the identification of poor households in the unified database and the effectiveness of social protection programs.

Successful candidates should have a PhD/doctorate in economics. Experience in conducting research and a record of published work, strong analytical and econometric skills, proven writing skills and the ability to manage a team are essential prerequisites. This position is based in Jakarta, Indonesia, for a minimum of one year, and offers an internationally competitive remuneration package.
