NAPTIP arrests two government officials for raping a 13 years old girl

National Trafficking Prohibition Agency (NAPTIP) officials arrested two Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports officials for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.

The arrest of 55-year-old Salisu Sabiu and 51-year-old Ibrahim Mansur was reported on Thursday in a NAPTIP statement.

The suspects, living in the same neighborhood with the victim in Dutse, a Federal Capital Territory suburb, were arrested after a tip-off, according to the statement.

The statement said the suspects will be charged to court and prosecuted under the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act, 2015 after their ‘ confession ‘ and ‘ admission of guilt. ‘

The statement adds that NAPTIP Director-General, Julie Okah-Donli condemned the act, adding that the agency will ensure that justice is served.

The statement also said that Ms Okah-Donli informed the public about the agency’s whistle-blowing policy and assured anonymity and protection whistleblowers.
