Mining invites applications for the following position:-

SENIOR PLANT METALLURGIST

Reporting to the
Metallurgical and Processing Engineering Manager, the preferred candidate will
have a Bachelor of Sc
ience Engineering Honours Degree in Metallurgy or
equivalent coupled with a minimum of 7-10 years experience in plant metallurgy
of which 3 years has been in a Senior Managerial role on a fixed plant
operation in a gold mining environment.

Requirements

The key
areas of the job are:

Monitor
performance to maintain budget recoveries.
Undertaking
plant investigations and recommending modification to improve performance.
Determination
of process changes to achieve optimum recoveries from changing feed stock.
Undertaking
metallurgical research associated with project evaluations as required.
Monitoring
the availability and usage of critical gold room reagent items and
consumables.
Continuously
evaluate elution plant performance against specified operating targets and
take corrective action to improve on negative deviations.
Carry
out removal of loaded steel wool cathodes followed by filtering and drying
to recover gold from electrowinning cells.
Ensure
records detailed records of gold room product weights are made.
Mix
fluxes and smelt gold concentrate to produce dore bars.
Monitoring
grinding media and reagent usage
Identifying
and evaluating technology and process changes which can reduce unit
treatment costs.
Contributing
to the preparation of the department operating and capital budgets.
Maintain
an accurate metallurgical balance and provide technical support to the
production and maintenance sections.
Compiling
of daily, weekly and month-end metallurgical performance reports
Supervise
the metallurgical staff and oversee the gold room.

The successful
candidate should have good Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and Process
Control Operation Systems.The candidate must have Managerial and Gold Mining
experience. The candidate must be a self-starter and should have good
interpersonal skills.
