Head
of Customer Finance (m/f)
Location:
Kigali
The
Customer Finance departments (HQ, CO) are responsible for the receivables risk
management
(RRM). This includes among others: Assessment of applicants, Customer work-out,
and Portfolio
management. The Head of Customer Finance is the customer finance process owner
at the national
level, responsible for the proactive management, monitoring and controlling of
all customer finance
related activities.
Activities
Accountable
for:
  • Maintenance
    of national A/R portfolio quality at reasonable levels, i.e. by carrying
    out RRM related activities as outlined in RRM policy and procedural
    guidelines.
  • Ensuring
    the compliance with national regulations and customer protection
    legislation, thus ensuring that policy, procedural guidelines and manuals
    are in line with governing law.
  • Management
    of the day to day operations, including customer assessment and approval,
    management of overdue and defaulted receivables, customer field visits for
    benchmark data gathering purposes, etc
  • Accountable
    for the sound credit assessment of customers
  • Accountable
    for effective loan monitoring
  • Accountable
    for the efficient management of defaulting customers and repossessions
Responsible
for:
  • Providing
    regular national portfolio and compliance reports to the Risk Account
    Manager and the Country Manager
  • Supervises
    the work and activities of Supervising Loan Field Officers, Loan Field
    Officers and Credit Assessment Officers
  • Responsible
    for data compilation and analysis and to share market intelligence with
    other departments especially Sales and Marketing
  • Responsible
    to improve customer assessment methods as well as management and
    monitoring tools
  • Responsible
    for an outstanding customer-product fit
  • Responsible
    for the reduction of default rates
  • Responsible
    for department monitoring
  • Responsible
    for budget planning
OUR
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
  • At
    least 5 years of experience in managing teams of at least 10 employees
    with disciplinary and technical authority, ideally as a branch or product
    manager at a microfinance institution (MFI).
  • At
    least 5 years of relevant professional experience in credit assessment,
    ideally in MSME lending. High priority will be given to those which have
    had a high exposure to individual lending methodology
  • High
    level of familiarity with typical income, expenditure and cash flow
    patterns of rural and semi-urban households and micro-enterprises in
    different country regions, including farmers, herders, business owners and
    employees
  • Good
    knowledge background in agriculture (crop and soil variety, crop cycles,
    farming methodologies, crop yield, agricultural value chains and risks,
    etc.)
  • In-depth
    experiences in training staff (classroom trainings, role plays,
    on-the-job-training, etc.
  • International
    work experience in Europe, North America, etc. a strong asset.
  • Alternative
    high exposure to frequent remote communication with northern headquarters
    or partners possible as well.
Soft
Skills:
  • High
    level of creativity and flexibility to enhance and incorporate unorthodox
    receivables procedures. First experience with credit scoring a strong
    asset.
  • Ability
    to work in and manage remote teams
  • Very
    strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Very
    good organizational and interpersonal skills, dynamic self-starter and
    team player

in local language and English
Other
Willingness
to frequently travel to regional Mobisol representative offices
