We are building and implementing the Toxics Reporting and Information System (TRAIS) and Greenhouse Gas Information System (GHGIS) in support of the ministry’s Toxic Reduction Strategy. If you have strong analytical and database management skills, this is an opportunity to join our team and our work on the Toxics Reduction Program.
You will:
* Collect, manage, analyze and report on use of toxics and emission of greenhouse gases by data manipulation in TRAIS and GHGIS;
* Conduct quality assurance and quality control on data and identify potential compliance issues;
* Participate in the development of strategies, business policies, processes and systems changes;
* Provide advice and training on information access to TRAIS and GHGIS submissions protocols, data management standards and deal with client complaints.
What we are looking for:
Computer Knowledge:
* You know computer system technologies and database management software (Oracle, Access, WEB software) and GIS software (ArcGIS, OnPoint);
* You know to use business intelligence tools (Cognos) to identify and asses facilities performance and conduct environmental data analysis;
* You know how to use common computer software such as word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software.
Technical Knowledge:
* You have experience in the environmental science field dealing with toxics substances, industrial unit operations, and processes that produce toxic waste;
* You know how to apply quality control and quality assurance techniques to ensure data integrity;
* You can interpret and apply relevant legislation and regulations (e.g. Toxics Reduction Act, 2009, Greenhouse Gas Emission Reporting Regulation);
* You know the reporting requirements for toxics and greenhouse gas emissions use by regulated facilities.
Essential Skills:
* You can apply your analytical skills to assess complex, technical information;
* You can your problem solving skills to assess and resolve technical issues;
* You have project management and coordination experience;
* You communicate clearly and concisely;
* You work well with others;
* You know how to draft a variety of reports and correspondence.
