VACANCY: BENCH CLERK – (C4/3)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens of Botswana to apply
for the above post in the Administration of Justice. The positions are tenable
in Masunga, Francistown, Lobatse, SelibePhikwe, Gaborone, Molepolole, Tsabong,
Ghanzi, Maun, Kasane, Serowe, and Palapye.
Salary Scale: C4/3 (P 64 632.00 –
P 95 748.00) per annum.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of
Arts Humanities with a combination of English and African Languages.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To interpret proceedings in court for both civil and criminal cases.
Duties:
• Advises the public on Court etiquette and procedure before court resumes
• Provides advice to customers and prepare recognizance subpoenas, liberation
warrants and remand warrants.
• Assist the attorney in understanding the cultural background of the client,
based on the place of origin/domicillum,
as well as his/her level of comprehension with regard to the judicial process
of Botswana
• Provides interpretation services in Court
• Liaises with customers pertaining to case logistics
• Register criminal cases both electronically and manually
• Captures event outcomes in criminal cases after court
• Scans criminal cases
• Prepares returns and statistics of civil and criminal cases
• Schedules cases for upcoming events
• Dockets pleadings
• Archives completed cases
