short term contracts for our client, a
With roles based in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, The Flying Operations
Inspector is required to support the Operations Division in oversighting
aircraft operations and undertaking surveillance on passenger aircraft,
charter, freight operations, as well as other aviation activities. This also
includes developing and delivering regulatory service activities to support
domestic aviation operations (including conducing RAMP inspections),
oversighting dangerous goods and cabin safety initiatives and surveillance.
The duties will include, but
will not be limited to the following:
Exercise the prescribed delegations as authorised by the Director, and
undertake the activities of the Region in a professional, effective and
efficient manner.
Conduct ground and air surveillance of operators and operations in accordance
with prescribed schedules to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements,
including the conduct of activities on behalf of other Regions as required.
Investigate accidents, incidents, complaints or other reports and initiate any
necessary action in regard to deficiencies or breaches of the legislation.
Make assessments and recommendations in relation to applications for approvals
and permissions including approval and appointment of key personnel, and
conduct surveillance to ensure continued suitability for appointment.
Make assessments and recommendations in relation to applications for the issue
of an Air Operators’ Certificate and other regulatory services approvals.
Conduct required checks of procedures, facilities and services of air operators
and provide reports and recommendations.
Conduct flight tests for the issue of Pilot Licences and the issue and renewal
of ratings as required.
Provide expert services to the industry on a fee for service basis, including
the handling of exemptions/permission requests, in accordance with a fixed fee
schedule.
The successful candidate must
meet the following qualifications and experience:
Mandatory
Hold a current Air Transport Licence (Aeroplane) with a current Command
Instrument Rating and a current Class 1 Medical certificate; and
Hold either a current Grade 1 Flight Instructor (Aeroplane) Rating or; recent
extensive training and checking experience (within the last 2 years) with an
approved CAR 217 training and checking organisation or equivalent
Desirable
Have experience in flying training and a sound knowledge of flying training
schools;
Have experience in safety system, fatigue risk management, human factors and
accident/incident investigation; and
A sound knowledge of project management.
