The Job
The occupant of this position is required to lead a small team of intelligence analysts targeting within the online environment to identify illicit activity posing a threat to the Australian border. The occupant is responsible for the following key tasks and activities:
Key Responsibilities
The Customs Level 4 Manager Online Targeting will undertake the following tasks and responsibilities. Managers operate under limited direction and undertake highly complex and variable work.
1. Provide leadership to the work area to achieve outcomes as required by the Border Targeting Business Plan. Review and evaluate business support requirements of the work area and contribute to the development of work area plans.
2. Develop strategies to advance opportunities to exploit the Internet environment for identifying and targeting the import and export of prohibited and restricted goods and opportunities to disrupt activities that pose a risk to the Australian border.
3. Develop technical and intelligence management architectures to support an effective national online targeting capability.
4. Maintain oversight on and provide strategic advice and recommendations on matters pertaining to online targeting capabilities, directions and outcomes.
5. Establish and maintain professional working relationships with industry and liaise with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
6. Represent the Branch at high level internal and external meetings in relation to branch activities
7. Plan and conduct intelligence activities.
8. Develop and deliver appropriate performance report strategies to the branch and divisional executive as required.
9. Manage staff undertaking intelligence and targeting activities.
10. Ensure a safe and equitable working environment. Review work area operating procedures, policies and guidelines.
11. Work within the legislative framework that underpins confidentiality and data privacy.
12. Adhere to the APS Values and Code of Conduct.
13. Other duties as required.
