Lex:lead Annual Essay Competition for Students in Developing Countries

Lex:lead is pleased to announce
scholarship competition in developing countries. Up to 10 US$500
awards made in February 2017 to the top essays answering this year’s essay
question:

“How do refugee and migration law
affect poverty and economic development? How can it be implemented to reduce
poverty and to improve economi

c development?”

Eligibility:

Applicants must register by 31
October 2016 online at www.lex-lead.org. Applicants meeting the eligibility
criteria will be assigned a registration number (an Identification Number)
which they are to use with no other identifying information in essays submitted
by 31 December 2016.

Americas: Haiti; Africa: Angola; Benin; Burkina Faso; Burundi; Central African
Republic; Chad; Comoros; DR Congo; Djibouti; Equatorial Guinea; Eritrea;
Ethiopia; Gambia; Ghana; Guinea; Guinea-Bissau; Lesotho; Liberia; Madagascar;
Malawi; Mali; Mauritania; Mozambique; Niger; Rwanda; São Tomé and Príncipe;
Senegal; Sierra Leone; Somalia; South Sudan; Togo; Tanzania; Uganda; Zambia;
Zimbabwe. This list pertains to both citizenship and educational enrolment.

Essays:

Essays must be in English, typed
and single-spaced for a total of not more than five (5) pages. All work
submitted must be the applicant’s own, original work with clear attribution
where other sources are consulted. Essays must be submitted using the
Identification Number assigned at registration and contain no information that
could lead to the independent identification of the applicant. Essays must be
submitted using the email address provided at registration by the candidate to
contact-at-lex-lead.org by 31 December 2016. Further details are given over

Award :

Essays submitted by the deadline
will be independently assessed by judges from a panel of experts and awards
announced in February 2017. Note that award cheques are made out to the
applicant’s educational institution for use toward the student’s tuition and/or
books less any applicable bank conversion fees and/or taxes. The winning essays
may be published.
