Abstract
This project focused on knowledge, attitude and
practice of women of childbearing age towards breast self-examination in Oleh
community, Delta State. To guide this study, four (4) research questions and
their corresponding hypotheses were drawn and formulated. The descriptive
survey research design method will be used to examine the study. The stratified
and simple random sampling technique was used by the researcher to select one
hundred and fifty (150) respondents. Structured questionnaire were used as
instrument for data collection, while collected data were analyzed using
frequency count, percentages and chi-square statistics at alpha of 0.05 level of
significance. The findings revealed that majority of the women of childbearing
age in Oleh community have knowledge on breast self-examination and possess positive attitude towards the breast
self-examination. Based on this, the researcher recommends that to further promote the
practice of breast self-examination adequate community mobilization should be
carried out through women group such as market women.
