KivuWatt ltd is located in Rwanda, wit
h offices in
Nyarutarama, Kigali and Kibuye. We are currently running a Project KivuWatt
which will develop the methane resources contained in Lake Kivu. This project
will draw on the 55- 60km3 of dropped methane and process it for power
generation, which will boost the country’s currently low level of
electrification, and play a significant role in advancing the country’s
development and improving its social-economic prospects.
We are looking for Operational Finance Manager.
The main responsibilities for this role include
developing the financial organization and implementing best practices in all
areas of responsibility, and infrastructure for the follow-up of the business
in KivuWatt and support the business. Providing leadership and guidance to the
Accounting, Procurement and Inventory teams.

Primary responsibilities of the Finance Manager
include:

- Prepare monthly financials (P&L, Balance
Sheet Cash Flow) in both local and IFRS for the commercial operation and
the project Phase II in a timely and accurate fashion together with
variance analysis.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for
Corporate and local management for the commercial operation and the
project Phase II in a timely and accurate fashion together with a variance
analysis.
- Prepare Lender compliance reports to be
reviewed by corporate prior issuance to lenders.
- Prepare annual budgets and maintain financial
models.
- Ensure compliance with the Contour Global
Manual of Financial Policies.
- Overseeing IFRS and local statutory and tax
audits for the business and also ensure that all statutory time filings
are accurate and timely filed.
- Overseeing all bank activities related to the
business including approving and making payments in accordance with
relevant processes and policies, cash forecasting and dividend/loan
compliance planning.
- Implementing a risk assessment plan to
identify risk exposure in areas such as foreign exchange, business
interruption, etc. and developing mitigation initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant
contracts and agreements, including financial documents, loans, contracts,
concession agreements, PPA etc.
- Prepare all tax declarations while
coordinating closely with the Regional Tax Manager Africa.
- Developing a long-term business plan and
operating strategy with the Africa CFO and Business Manager to properly
identify financial impacts of strategic decisions.
- Analyzing all major capital investments and
proposals, including new business development, and providing justification
and recommendations for investment. Hiring, developing and mentoring the
accounting and finance team in the region including recruiting,
performance appraisals, and training and development plans.
- Maintain relationships with key banks for the
day to day business in close cooperation with the Regional Treasurer.
Supporting the implementation of SAP and BPC.
Required qualifications
- The ideal candidate will be a certified or
chartered accountant (CPA or at minimum BA in accounting/finance, MBA).
- Candidate will have 10+ years of accounting
and finance experience and will have experience working with large
multi-national companies in the energy sector. African experience is a
plus.
- The candidate will have experience working in
long term business and preferably in the power industry.
- The ideal candidate will have experience with
US GAAP / IFRS and exposure to SEC reporting environment including SOX as
well as local GAAP.
- Candidate should have accounting systems
experience in SAP and a proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and
PowerPoint. Additional skill sets/experience to include: budgeting,
forecasting, business planning, contract review and administration,
management of statutory audit and tax return
