We’re looking for someone with
proven drive and passion to help our company to expand. You’re objective will
be to increase the company’s sales by:
- Making sure tourists and business visitors to Rwanda know about our activities as soon
after their arrival in Kigali
as possible; - Helping middle income Rwandans and expats in Kigali to find out
about the company’s activities; - Finding new corporate customers for the company.
To do this you will work part
time, two or three days a week to:
- Identify and then approach hotels, hostels, cafés,
restaurants, shops, clubs, travel agents, taxis and other locations in
Kigali frequented by potential customers; - Use your negotiation skills to persuade these locations
to prominently and continuously display the company’s posters, stickers
and flyers and, where applicable, to sell the activities themselves; - Regularly follow up at all locations that display the
company’s posters and flyers to make sure that they are constantly
displayed in the best places; - Talk to reception and other staff at hotels, travel
agents etc. so that they understand and promote the company’s products;
and - Encourage prospective clients to book the company’s
activities during their visit.
If you are successful, the job
may become full time as you additionally become responsible for:
- Recruiting and then leading a small team of sales reps
doing the above tasks in Kigali and elsewhere in Rwanda; - Develop and maintain links to Rwandan tour operators,
safari guides, drivers, tour leaders, business trip planners, conference
organisers and others who lead and organise trips for tourists and
business travellers in Rwanda so that they recommend the company’s
activities to their clients; and - Meet with and present to corporate customers to suggest
they use the company’s activities for team building, retreats as well as
fun, effective and memorable events.
You will need to demonstrate:
- Knowledge of the Rwandan leisure, tourist and business
traveller markets; - Awareness of the places frequented by people in the
company’s target market; - Experience of making sales and gaining new business;
- Understanding of corporate businesses in Rwanda;
- Capability to build and maintain relationships with
business partners; - A natural and easy communication style with enthusiasm
and commitment; - Knowledge and awareness of the company’s business and
products; - Creative, critical and analytical thinking and
commercial awareness; - Highly organised personal skills, the ability to work
autonomously, with excellent problem solving and decision making skills; - Proficiency with email, office skills and have access to
your own PC, scanner, printer and smartphone; - Interest in and at least occasional participation in
outdoors activities (such as cycling, running, swimming, trekking or other
sports); - Fluency in written and spoken English. Kinyarwanda and
French are beneficial.
The successful candidate will be
expected to work from home in Kigali. They will be offered a permanent role
with a six-month probationary period.
