The
Position:
Reporting
to the Managing Director, the role holder will provide overall leadership to
the department in providing to Retail Banking custo

mers (Personal,
Mortgages,  SME  and Agribusiness customers) the full range of
banking solutions and offer world class service with a view to maximize returns
to all stake holders. The department is also mandated with the management of
all channels. This position also offers Retail and Customer Care support to
corporate customers.

The
job holder will be required to lead the acquisition of Consumer and SME
business for the Bank locally and ensure appropriate synergy with other KCB
Group entities to foster growth of the Bank’s retail portfolio in the region in
order to maximize the Bank’s global revenue.
Key
Responsibilities:
  • Develop
    and monitor Retail’s liability and asset portfolios with the ultimate aim
    of ensuring that the Bank remains competitive and promptly reacts to the
    changes in both the internal and external environment;
  • Contribute
    to and take a proactive role in policy and the strategic direction of the
    Bank. This will include ensuring that the Bank’s objectives as relating to
    Retail Banking and the Bank in general are met;
  • Overall
    management of the channels (Branch, Mobile, ATMs, Agents, POS, Internet
    Banking) to ensure superior service offering to all banks customers,
    management of operating costs by ensuring efficient utilization of Bank’s
    resources and control of fraud and losses through adherence to policies
    and procedures.
  • Provide
    oversight to monitoring and management of Customer Experience, constantly
    review service delivery standards and position staff in a way, which
    ensures maintenance of the highest service standards.
  • Oversee
    continuous development of Card Business profitability from both an
    issuance and acquiring perspective. This entails creating alliance with
    both merchants and international Card issuing associations.
  • Exercise
    responsibility on the availability and utilization of alternative channels
    e.g. Digital Financial Services and Money Transfer Services.
  • Organise
    and manage the available human and physical resources within Retail Head
    office and branch network, through training and proper positioning to
    optimise usage of available resources.
  • Ensure
    compliance with all regulations i.e. BNR prudential guidelines, Banking
    Act, and internal processes and procedures.
  • Prepare
    and present the Retail Banking business performance and strategy Papers to
    the Board.
The
Person:
For
the above position, the successful applicant should have the following minimum
requirements:
  • University
    Degree preferably in a Business related field. A post graduate and/or
    Banking qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum
    of 10 years’ experience in commercial banking with at least 5 years in a
    senior Retail Banking management position.
  • Good
    appreciation and knowledge of the Banking Industry, latest Retail Banking
    market trends, as well as challenges.
  • Excellent
    Cross-Cultural People Management skills, Team Motivation and Leadership
    Competence.
  • A
    good understanding of Banking Law and Practice as well as Corporate
    Governance Principles. 
  • Sound
    IT proficiency.
  • An
    appreciation of Risk Management and Knowledge of internal controls
  • Strong
    networking and interpersonal skills with proven people, leadership,
    communication and negotiation skills
  • Self-empowerment
    to enable development of open communication, teamwork and trust that are
    needed to support performance and customer-service oriented culture.
