The KMHB is looking for a career oriented individual to become part of our Maintenance Department team.
BUILDING TECHNICIAN/ELECTRICIAN Location Kuujjuaq
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Director of Building Maintenance, you will be required to verify, assist and train local maintenance employees with their daily tasks concerning building maintenance. You will be responsible for applying a preventive and corrective maintenance plan for the building units. You will also have to follow-up and verify the work done by contractors on our buildings. You will also have to understand plans and technical drawings; assemble, install, test and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, controls and fixtures. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, controls, apparatus and components, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct problem.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The applicants must have excellent inter-personal and problem solving skills, must be details oriented, good writing skills, analytical and problem solving abilities along with a proactive approach. To apply you must be a professional electrician by trade; you should have a college diploma in building studies or equivalent with 5 years of experience or a Secondary school vocational diploma in building studies and 8 years of experience.
You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work successfully within a team environment and possess excellent communication skills. Your computer skills must include the use of Microsoft Excel and Word. Applicants must have the ability to work fluently in two of the three languages of the region (Inuktitut, French and English). You must be willing to travel to different northern villages.
