Karma Co-operative, Toronto’s oldest member-owned co-operative grocery store,
is looking for a part time Retail Assoc
iate. The position to be filled is for
one weekend shift a week, though the ideal candidate will have flexibility and
be able to fill in when needed.
Position Summary:
• Provide friendly customer service
• Price, display, and restock products throughout the store
• Receive deliveries from suppliers
• Ensure efficient and effective store opening and closing procedures
• Purchase as required
• Operate cash registers
• Explain and promote the co-op to potential members
• Prioritize tasks in a busy work environment
The ideal candidate will have/be:
• Experience in retail operations and purchasing
• Knowledge of co-ops and member-owned organizations
• Knowledge of organic/local food and health/ecofriendly products
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented and energetic
• A great team player
• Must be available to work evenings and weekends
• Experience operating a POS system
• Flexible schedule to help cover shifts
Education required: Grade 12 graduation
Anticipated start date: Aug 27th, 2016.
Starting wage: $12.89/ hour plus a 25% store discount.
