The Role:
Kaplan International Colleges are looking for experienced writers of general English materials to join our team of writers for a project aimed at general English for Arabic-speaking students in the Middle East. Positions are available for either fixed-term, part time employment, or freelance piecework.
Main responsibilities and functions:
Reporting to the KIC Materials Leader, you will be responsible for:
• Authoring Starter, Elementary and Intermediate-level general English course materials for a published textbook and supporting LMS as part of a blended learning course
• Writing answer keys, teacher notes and other supplementary material for use in a teacher’s manual
Candidate profile:
You will have experience teaching English to native Arabic-speaking students, preferably in the GCC region or wider Arabic-speaking Middle East. In addition you will have:
• A minimum of a DELTA or Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics or a related subject
• Significant EFL teaching experience and, preferably, experience of using a VLE and/or LMS
• Experience of writing multi-level general English materials for print and/or digital publication
• Experience of course delivery to adult and young adult L1 Arabic speakers
• Interest in Awareness of the cultures of the Middle East and Willingness to undertake research into the culture of the target market
• Knowledge of the CEFR and its application as a framework for designing a syllabus with clear and measurable outcomes
• Competence in teaching and administrative IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, etc)
• Ability to work under pressure to deadlines
