President Paul Kagame of Rwanda met on Tuesday and held talks with the Prince of Wales, His Highness Charles Philip Arthur George.
The two met at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire where, according to President Paul Kagame’s office, they discussed the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) to be hosted by Rwanda in June 2020.
Rwanda was selected to host the summit in April last year, considered one of world leaders ‘ most expensive meetings – after defeating Fiji’s Pacific Island nation as the first African country since neighboring Uganda in 2007.
The meeting of Kagame with Prince of Wales follows the assistance given to Rwanda by the member states of the Commonwealth to host the meeting.
Foreign Minister Dr. Richard Sezibera announced assistance for Rwanda at the Commonwealth Foreign Ministers ‘ Meeting (CFAMM) earlier this month.
Africa has the largest Commonwealth membership (19), followed by Caribbean and Americas membership (13).
Members include Rwanda, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania and Kenya in the East African Community.
