Description
Note: 2 positions available in Tanzania, 2
positions available in Ghana.
1)Assist in
the Production of Human Rights Content:
The trainer
will work in a newsroom of a local radio station. Their job will be to work
side-by-side with local journalists, researching story ideas, and ensuring that
they are covering the story with integrity and a firm knowledge of human rights

merely to guide and assist the local journalist to report on human rights.
jhr’s goal is to transfer knowledge—not to do the work ourselves.

participating in story assignment and the news process, the trainer will help

3)Conduct Informal Workplace Workshops: Workshops will be held within the newsroom of the local radio station.
Each session will focus on techniques necessary to report effectively on human
rights issues. The training will be inclusive and respectful of differing
levels of ability. Workshops will cover a variety of topics, from basic
journalism skills to different human rights issues. Topics will be tailored to
the needs of those whom the trainer works with.

rights focused programming that will raise human rights issues relevant to the
local community.
5)Special Projects Development: The trainer will research and develop kits for reporting on specific
human rights issues, as determined by the host organizations (assessment).
6)Canadian Engagement: The trainer will write one blog posting per month on a chosen topic
