Job Vacancy for Electrical Engineer – Uganda/UK

Electrical Engineer – Design, CAD and Site Supervision – Overseas Travel.
Involvement in project from start to finish. Process Plant or Mechanical Handling Systems.
£30 per hour (UK work) £37 (Overseas Work) + Expenses, accommodation & flights.

Through winning several major contracts with a number of renowned blue chip clients around the world, this established manufacturer of process plant equipment is experiencing a rapid increase in workload which will continue throughout 2011 and beyond. With a major project already well underway in Uganda, the company urgently require an experienced electrical design engineer to work between sites in Derby and Uganda for a long term contract.

The role will involve
o Working on a project for a new wet process plant in Uganda. The equipment involved is all LV – LV power, switchgear, control cabling, etc.
o Conducting a site survey – routings, collecting data, etc.
o Electrical design – Single line diagrams, MCC panels, instrumentation.
o Possibly some basic calculations e.g. cable sizing.
o I/O checking and fault finding on electrical hardware.
o Supervision of electrical contractors.
o Commissioning of electrical hardware.
o Will spend 4-8 weeks on site in Uganda at anyone time.

The successful applicant must possess the following key skills.
o An engineering qualification – ONC or above.
o Experience with electrical design of hardware, testing, fault finding and commissioning – CAD.
o Some supervisory experience.
o Experience with electrical design of process plant (water, food, beverage, oil and gas, etc) or mechanical handling systems (cement works, grain handling, etc).
o Prepared to work on site for an extended period of time. The client will be flexible, but you will need to go on site in Uganda

The company will offer the successful applicant:
o Up to £30 p/h Ltd for standard working hours in the UK. Candidates who require higher hourly rates will be considered.
o Overseas rates, approx £37 per hour + expenses, accommodation & flights in Uganda.
o An initial 12 Month contract with opportunities for further extensions.
o The opportunity to secure a role within a company experiencing major investment and growth over the next few years.
