The James Bay Market Society is now hiring for a Manager for the 2012 Summer Market season. Our ideal candidate is someone with excellent multitasking skills, the ability to find creative solutions to unexpected challenges, and the resources and skills to attract and retain high quality vendors and service people to joining our market. The main duties involve planning the weekly layout and vendor attendance, set up and take down, collecting vendor fees, dealing with both vendor and customer issues, booking music and entertainment,
ensuring VIHA regulations are followed when appropriate, supervising the society’s drink station and working it as needed, carrying out promotional activities as directed by the Board of Directors, selecting vendors who meet the vision of the market and who enhance the market with quality, local handmade products and services, all administrative tasks related to the market and its operations.

This is a contract position that pays $1200 per month for a budgeted 15-20 hours of work per week. This includes the 8-9 hours that you are required to remain on site during market day. The contract commences on March 18 2012 and will run for the duration of the market season (ends October 2012). Only candidates able to commit to a full season will be considered.
