We are looking for a Director, Information Technology at our Corporate Office in Vancouver, B.C.
This position is responsible for the operational management of the organization’s information and technology needs, including the implementation and integration of system and technology initiatives necessary to achieve SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts (SBHR) goals. Duties include: developing, recommending and documenting plans, policies, standards, procedures and checklists; managing technology assets and budget; network management and ensuring network operations; assessing, organizing and budgeting for system and technology training; overseeing the management of SilverBirch technology; supporting, as needed, the VP of IT; leading the Premier Technology Group to ensure group objectives are met recommending and implementing system and technology solutions and improvements; troubleshooting systems and technology; automating organizational tasks; and supervising activities and IT associates.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Assists the VP IT in delivering long-term information technology requirements for the Information Systems department
* Develops IT budget under the supervision of VP IT for current and five year period; monitors and manages budget to insure operation within budget constraints
* Manages the Premier Technology Group, who are responsible for SilverBirch’s IT hardware, including: maintenance of all computer related equipment including personal computers, telephone hardware, software implementations and management; ensuring that all new purchases are compatible with the approved IT department’s long term strategy
* Prepares project plans that outline expected tasks and activities
* Evaluates software and hardware vendors and solutions
* Ensures unit testing processes and policies are in place and adhered to in order to verify the system functions and satisfy business requirements
* Participates in the review of technical designs
* Maintains an in depth knowledge of the full scope of information processing, telecommunications, telephone, hospitality information systems and related technologies.
* Directs the above programs in an efficient and cost effective manner utilizing through the use of technology and best practice methodologies
* Hires, trains, supervises, evaluates and disciplines support staff
* Assists with the planning, design and development, integration, coordination and operations of all Information Systems functions and responsibilities
* Provides technical support to the corporate office managers, assists in performing needs assessment and strategic planning; maintains ongoing communication with all SBHR departments and hotels to improve operations, meet needs and resolve problems with new and/or existing systems
* Assists in making IT recommendations and providing technical support to VP of Information Technology
* Develops, implements, and audits standard operating policies and procedures, to include timeliness, quality, documentation and security of I.S. department responsibilities
* Coordinates and directs the configuration, implementation and operation of other related systems which are integral with the IT department’s function
Preferred Education & Qualifications:
* Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Computer Science, Business or other closely related field
* At least six (6) years of closely related experience, and at least four (4) years of which must have been in a responsible administrative or management capacity in data processing
* Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
* Experience working in hospitality organization(s) is considered a strong asset
