Organization: International School for Earth Studies
Location: Ottawa-Gatineau area, Ontario/Quebec
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the appointed intern will become a part of the ISES staff and team.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The International School for Earth Studies is a private school focusing on environmental education, outdoor recreation and wildlife rehabilitation. We have 50+ animals on site and we work with a broad audience. Some of our clientele are students from Ashbury College Junior School, gap semester students and adults.
We seek to connect people, animals and the Land.
Ordinarily, staff live on site but this specific position is unique because it allows the intern to be off-site. The intern will have the opportunity to visit the school on weekends, if required, to have hands-on experience and updates about what’s happening at ISES.
Meetings with other ISES staff and Director of Operations can be done in Ottawa or on campus at ISES. Updates may take place over phone or through email.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Flexible to attend gap conferences
• Creating promotional documents to advertise ISES programs
• Sending ISES news and program updates to clients
• Maintaining the website on Wix.com
• Keeping Marketing Plan up to date
QUALIFICATIONS
• A university or college student or recent graduate
• Marketing and advertising experience preferred
• Ability to conduct market research
• DEMONSTRATES CREATIVITY
• Familiar with web tools such as Mail Chimp, Wix, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
• Familiar with Microsoft tools such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• Familiar with Adobe’s Photoshop
• Ability to work independently and on a team
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Willing to learn, teach and has a strong work ethic
• Ability to get along in ISES’s family environment
• Excellent organizational skills and a leader
• Love for environment and animals
This is a part-time position and most of the work can be done off-site. Therefore, the intern does not need to live on the school’s campus.
Position: Part-Time (10-15 hours per week)
Starting Date: August 29th, 2011
Salary: $150.00 per week
Location: Within an hour’s distance from campus (preference to Ottawa)
Intern must keep log of weekly hours in order to receive payment.
