Position Summary
IREX seeks a Child Labor Specialist to conduct an in-country assessment and assist in the proposal development for a project to Combat Child Labor in Areas of Liberian Rubber Production. The project will promote improved policies to address child labor in rubber producing areas and enhanced monitoring and enforcement of such policies, with a focus on company-owned or operated rubber plantations. The project will also support the direct delivery of services to children engaged in or at-risk of various forms of child labor and their households in communities where livelihoods are largely dependent on smallholder rubber production.
Travel to Liberia required
Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide expertise on child labor issues, focusing on Liberia and the region
• Lead an assessment in Liberia
• Advise IREX on priority issues affecting child labor in Liberia
• Provide expertise in designing suitable programming
• Assist IREX in developing the proposal
Qualifications
• MA in Social Work, Education, International Development or other relevant field.
• Demonstrated understanding of the child labor issue and youth workforce development in the region and preferably in Liberia
• Experience in designing and preparing US DoL or other funder proposals
• Availability for travel to Liberia
• Strong technical writing in English and oral communication skills.
• Previous experience leading an assessment and proposal team, preferably in Liberia or West Africa highly desirable.
