Project Description:
Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), is an
international non-profit research organization. Based in New Haven, CT, with
offices in Washington, D.C. and worldwide, IPA works with development partners
and academic researchers to create and evaluate approaches to solving
development problems, to communicate “what works” in development and to scale
up successful projects in a variety of fields, including health, education,
microfinance, governance and agriculture.
Innovations for Poverty Action
will be working with over 4,000 entrepreneurs throughout Kigali to understand
the impact that improved information has on their businesses. At the center of
this project is an innovative ICT tool which entrepreneurs will use to track
and analyze their firm’s growth over time.  This tool will assist
entrepreneurs in making strategic business decisions regarding their finances,
operations and assisting them in customer research.  The Enumerators will
play a critical role in recruiting entrepreneurs to use this tool and in
conducting the subsequent evaluation of the tool’s impact on entrepreneurs’
work, growth and job creation.
Position Summary:  
IPA is looking for brilliant and
highly-motivated people to assist with our fieldwork activities as enumerators
within and outside Kigali. The Enumerator position provides an excellent
opportunity to be train and gain hands
on experience in a field setting with a vibrant
organization undertaking cutting
edge development research. Successful candidates
will be added to our database and be contacted based on available positions.
The Enumerator will work closely
with the research staff and field staff to perform a variety of tasks
including, but not limited to:

Attend
training sessions
·          
Adhere to
all IPA survey and data protocols;
·          
Conduct
interviews in the field using survey instruments designed by IPA
·          
Document
issues that arise during fieldwork and communicate them to the field supervisor
·          
Be
responsible for maintaining good relations with IPA, its employees, partner
organizations and project participants.
·          
Perform
other duties related to the project that may be assigned to him/her, such as,
but not limited to, testing the questionnaire and make arrangements for his/her
interviews.
·          
Transmit
data collected to her/his supervisors on a daily basis
·          
Assist in
any other tasks related to the delivery of the project at hand
Minimum Requirements
·        
The
applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Economics/
Statistics, Finance and or related field, with at least one year field/data
collection experience.
·        
Excellent
Sales and product Marketing skills, preferably interacting with small business
owners in an urban setting is strongly required
·        
Past
experience with data collection using electronic devices (tablets, smart-phones
) is an asset
·        
Excellent
verbal and written proficiency in Kinyarwanda and English.
·        
Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills
·        
Good
computer skills:  ability to type in Microsoft Word
·        
Attention
to detail with excellent numerical skills
·        
Sharp
problem-solving skills and quick learner
