IPA are currently in search of an experienced Workshop Supervisor for our Client based in Tullamarine. Our Client are a well known and respected dominant force in Australia in the supply, distribution and manufacture of quality Vacuum Tankers, Vacuum Pumps and Accessories and Hooklift machines.

Reporting to the Managing Director; this role will see you ensuring the operational efficiency of the manufacturing and installation operations by the application of best practice as well as establishing and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement through benchmarking.

The role will consist of, but not be limited to:
• Analysing work orders and drawings to determine information such as material to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations required
• Liaising with the production planner to establish and produce efficient workable production schedules to ensure on time delivery
• Ensuring all production staff are productively tasked at all times as well as continuously improving productivity in the workshop
• Preparing job progress reports at weekly production meetings
• Preparing and issuing written work requirements forms to the production staff
• Inspecting work in progress and finished products to ensure delivery in conformance with specifications, quotations and quality requirements
• Recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
• Analysing and resolving problems, as well as assisting staff in solving problems
• Maintaining time and production records
• Keeping production staff informed of company policies and any changes through regular tool box meetings
• Maintaining a level of staffing commensurate with timely and efficient completion of work schedule
• Maintaining an appropriate mix of staff skills in line with requirements
• Conducting employee performance reviews in a consistent time frame
• Day to day management of industrial relations in line with applicable laws and regulations
• Organising plant repair and maintenance

The key competencies to ensure success in the role include, but are not limited to:
• Two to four years related experience and/or training
• A sound understanding of engineering drawing, hydraulic drawings and electrical drawings; along with the ability to write and understand work specifications
• Ability to read and interpret documentation, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Analytical thinking; designing work flows and procedures
• Problem solving skills; identifying and solving problems within a timely manner
• Excellent mathematical skills and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
• Car and drivers license as well as a forklift license
• Customer service experience
• The ability to interpret an extensive array of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, as well as several abstract and concrete variables
• Written and oral communication; clear and concise communicational skills
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Superb leadership experience and skills learned

The direct supervision of 10 to 20 employees; this role will require benchmark professionalism, work ethic, strategic thinking and organisational skills – as well as great business acumen and cost consciousness.

Computer skills are very important to this position and will see you hold experience with Auto Cad or Alibre Design software, ITMS Inventory software and Excel and Word Processing software.
