Specific duties:
The GBV Program seeks to improve the protection of women and girls in the
Tanzania refugee camps through supporting measures to prevent GBV incidents,
raise awareness and respond to current and emerging needs through a
multi-sector approach. The GBV
Coordinator will specifically:
a. Ensure that the objectives of the program are met in a timely manner and are
being monitored and evaluated effectively
b. Collaborate with other sectors to ensure that protection and empowerment of
women and girls is consistently mainstreamed across IRC sectors as per joint
case management plans/strategies/standardized operational procedures.
a. Participate in the implementation of the IRC Tanzania Country Program Strategic
Plan. And lead the design and implementation of the GBV part in the integrated
case management strategy of IRC Tanzania programming, in line with the IRC
Program Framework, the IRC Global Women’s Empowerment and Protection
Strategy and the Country Program Strategic Plan.
a. Collect and analyze data for monitoring of the program, problem analysis,
planning and advocacy and evaluation of program outcomes and impacts, in close
cooperation with the
b. Provide on-going direct supervision, including assisting in the development
of individual work plans for GBV staff, ensuring best practice standards are
met including global GBV guidelines
c. Ensure timely submission of all program reports, quality of program data and
proper archival of program information including safe custody of case files and
referral of cases/information
d. Conduct regular meetings with GBV program staff and community members to
assess progress toward objectives, discuss issues and assist in finding solutions
to challenges identified including coming up or rather suggested by
participants during training sessions and community meetings/awareness
sessions.
• University degree in Gender & Development, Social Work, International
Relations/Development, Humanities, International Law, or related field with 3-5
years program management experience, including at least 2 years implementing
GBV programs in an emergency and/or post-conflict environment.
• Strong people management skills: the ability to effectively lead and
supervise staff, a person with very strong interpersonal and communication
skills preferred.
• The candidate must be fluent in written and spoken English, ability to
communicate in French or Kirundi is added advantage.
• Solid organizational skill, ability to be flexible and work well under
pressure with experience working in difficult locations and strongly conversant
in computer skills especially in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email/internet
software.
