The
ICCO MasterCard Foundation STARS program aims to address barriers to
increase food security and income (access to financial services , insufficient
farming inputs, integration into markets,) through a two-pronged approach:
Development and implementation of financial products for agriculture with MFIs;
and Value Chain Development and linking with financial services. The five-year
program aims to increase income and food security for at least 210,000
low-income, smallholder farmers (50% women) and their families. The program is
implemented in Senegal, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Rwanda.

communication/fundraising officer is responsible for fundraising and
communication/visibility for the STARS Program and the Central, Eastern and
Southern Africa region.

communication/fundraising officer reports to the Programme Director STARS
program for 50% on STARS communication and the Deputy Regional Manager for 50%

Communications:
- Regularly
update the communication and marketing strategy working with staff in the
STARs program and the CESA region. - Advice
and support colleagues with the correct implementation of communication
instruments, optimized for the goal, target group and the strategy and
branding guidelines of the organization in the countries of program
operation. - Signal
and determine chances and possibilities for promotion of the STARS program
and the region. - Coordinate
with colleagues in Africa and the Netherlands, the development, production
and publication of communication material. - Make,
collect and select quality information, adjusting it to the goals and tune
it to suitable communication material for the target group and increased
visibility of the STARS program and ICCO cooperation. - Give/organize
communications trainings for colleagues and partners to build their
capacity and improve their communication skills. - Think
of creative ways to use social media to increase visibility. - Set
up a media press strategy to generate more visibility in the region.
Fundraising:
- Identify
alternative and innovative fundraising possibilities in the region
(businesses, foundations and private donors); - Draft
profiles of the generated leads and work with the appropriate colleagues
for joint follow up; - Assess
the various programs for their potential for funding by donors and map
opportunities; - Network
with current and prospective funders. - Occasionally
organize events or activities to increase visibility and understanding of
ICCO and the STARS program. - Support
colleagues in developing sound proposals by giving technical and tactical
advice; - Capacitate
(new) staff through accompaniment in their fundraising efforts; - Be
aware of the latest developments within the donor community in the region
and contribution to their policy setting; Together with the country
representatives, develop and implement a fundraising strategy to secure
financing; - Identify
and contact prospective leads and advise the Regional Managers, STARS
Program Director and country representatives as to which ones to pursue.
Minimum
requirements –must have:

of communication, marketing or journalism or related field at a bachelor’s
level. - A
minimum of 5 years relevant work experience - Affinity
with international development cooperation - Good
knowledge of local communication methods. - International
