acres of woodlands, wetlands, trails and farmland just outside of
Guelph Ontario. Since 1913, Ignatius Farm has served as the well of
sustenance for the Jesuit community in the region. In the last 20
years, Ignatius Farm has evolved to become a model for organic
agriculture and the mentoring of organic growers. Located at the
northern perimeter of Guelph, Ontario we bridge the urban with rural,
and invite our surrounding community to visit and get involved with
their local farm.
• Ignatius Farm provides fresh, local, organic vegetables and fruits
to the broader community through our Community Shared Agriculture
program, a Farmers’ Market, restaurants, and special orders.
• Our 3 acres of Community Gardens and our active volunteer program
are very popular with those who appreciate working in healthy soil and
our beautiful surroundings.
• Ignatius Farm additionally rents land to various small farm businesses.

Coupling personal and professional development, Ignatius Farm programs
for young adults provide skills and knowledge for professions in
ecological agriculture. The project includes full orientation,
learning objectives assessment, regular coaching and skill
evaluations.

The Farm logistics facilitator is a training position in farm
operations & logistics in organic vegetable production. The candidate
will gain transferable skills in equipment operations, maintenance and
repairs, farm health & safety, harvest & post-harvest handling,
harvest distribution & marketing, record-keeping, customer relations,
timely crop management, and supervision of a team.

1. Field operations:

Perform field operations using tractors and implements for organic
vegetable production, cover crop management, and field perimeter
management; Assist in field activity scheduling; Perform seasonal &
regular maintenance of farm tractors and implements; Conduct periodic
review of farm equipment Standard Operating Procedures , Pre-Use
Inspections, and general safety protocols; Supervise field crews in
planting, weeding, and harvesting operations

2. Harvest Coordination and Produce Sales:

Plan vegetable allotments for CSA membership, restaurants,
Farmers’market, wholesale, and donations; Supervise and train interns
and volunteers in harvest techniques and post-harvest handling; Update
best practice instructional materials; Develop, maintain, and refine
records tracking harvest yields, labour, sales and share values;
Oversee CSA distribution days, with attention to customer experience

To meet funding obligations, candidates must be:
• between the ages of 15 and 30;
• unemployed or under-employed;
• have graduated in the last three calendar years from:
• an agriculture-related program in a university, college or CEGEP; or
• a provincial program focusing on biological, agricultural and
veterinary science or applied technology; and
• Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

Additional Qualifications:
• Experience operating tractors and implements
• Experience or studies in organic agriculture, vegetable production,
and marketing
• Team & community builder; strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Office
• Valid G class driver’s license, First Aid/CPR
• Health & Safety mindfulness
