Change in Liberia Thematic Programme which forms part of IBIS’ activities in
Liberia.
Background: IBIS works for a just world, in which
all people have equal access to education, influence and resources and are able
to influence the decisions that affect their lives. IBIS has been implementing
education projects in the deprived South-East of Liberia since 2005 with a
strong focus on complementary education, teacher upgrading and youth skills
training. In 2011, IBIS developed its Education for Change (EFC) Thematic
Programme in Liberia which brings together self implemented projects within a
broader aim of building partnerships for the longer-term development objective.
IBIS’ work is based on a right-based approach and takes its departure from
constructive, capacity building partnerships with local Government, NGOs and
Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and has the aim to develop and increase
these partnerships in the near future, in order to minimise IBIS’ direct
activity implementation.
