The incumbent will lead
implementation of the Regional Health and HIV strategy, be responsible for
development and management of donor-funded health and HIV programmes including
preparation and submission of proposals, reports, budget management, capacity
building, monitoring, evaluation and learning. Additionally, he/she will
coordinate documentation and dissemination of evidence emanating from health
& HIV programmes as well as participating in advocacy campaigns to
influence inclusion of older people in various national and regional policies.
The ideal candidate should have a
degree in Public Health, at least five years working experience in an INGO with
a regional set-up; have at least five years of managerial experience in health
programme design, implementation and monitoring in Africa and demonstrable
understanding of key policy issues in health and HIV. Ability to travel
extensively in the region, representational, advocacy, interpersonal skills and
being administratively self supporting are essential to this role. Exposure to
UN and major international donor systems, understanding of health needs among
older people, working knowledge of Swahili, French and Portuguese are desirable
to this role.
