Location: Jerseyville, Ontario (between Hamilton/Ancaster and Brantford)
We are looking for an intern who has an interest in organic farming. Our 57-acre organic farm is in a beautiful setting, right on the rail trail running from Brantford to Hamilton. We farm with our two Belgian horses as much as possible to reduce pollution and our dependency on oil.
Our philosophy is to include everyone in the running of the farm and respect everyone’s opinion, and have a little fun along the way. We sell our produce at the Brantford and Ancaster Farmer’s Markets from June through to October. We have laying hens, and sheep as four legged lawnmowers.
The internship involves learning about market gardening, livestock care, haying, tree and grounds care. You may also choose to be involved in community work related to farmland preservation.
Housing is provided in an old farmhouse with shared meals. We are currently building a second home off-grid with the intention of being an eco-health centre.
Remuneration: Small stipend based upon profit sharing
