Habitat for Humanity Resource Development and Communications Manager (RDCM) Job Vacancy in Uganda

The RDCM is a senior management position that focuses on establishing, maintaining, and enhancing the long-term self-sufficiency of Habitat for Humanity Uganda through a sustainable resource development and communications program. The RDCM works closely with and reports to the National Director and high-level volunteers to maximize resource development and communications opportunities. The RDCM will furthermore be responsible for the image of Habitat for Humanity Uganda both inside Uganda and abroad. Ail media relations opportunities will pass through the RDCM. The RDCM will functionally liaise with the program department and ensure sound resource development practices

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Understand and articulate the Mission of Habitat for Humanity Uganda including the goal, mission statement and focus, the history, and the larger efforts of HFHI on a global level.
2. Works with national board (and/or resource development committee) and staff to develop national resource development strategies.
3. Responsible for all external communications from HFH Uganda to various constituent groups.
4. Develops public relations materials such as newsletter, brochures, video, press releases, radio and television programs.
5. Sets up and oversees all administrative functions for RDC: gift acknowledgment system, donor files, and donor database to ensure the sustainability and continuity of RDC efforts.
6. Cultivates relationships with media, government, donors, and potential donors.
7. Researches potential institutional donors (e.g. aid agencies, government, foundations and trusts), writes grant proposals and coordinates reporting to donors.
8. Coordinates activities with RDC Department at HFHI Africa and Middle East Area Office
9. Organizes, publicizes, facilitates and liaises with programme staff regarding special events, work camps and international/national volunteer activities in Uganda (including youth events)
10. Prepares RDC related work plans, budgets and quarterly reports for National Director.
11. Work as a team member of the resource development and communications department for HFH Uganda and its parent organization, HFH International

Requirement:
• Bachelor of Commerce, Mass Communication, Social Sciences, majoring in management, marketing/ communications, or public relations from a recognized University/Institution, or equivalent experience degrees / certification.
• Post graduate training in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
• At least 8 years of experience in management, marketing/communications, or public relations in a recognized company or organization preferably with an NGO.

ABILITIES:
• Ability to train staff and to supervise personnel.
• Ability to think strategically “outside the box.”
• Ability to work under a deadline and/or pressure.
• Ability to write funding proposals.

SKILLS:
• Computer literate, Microsoft Word and Excel abilities are required, Microsoft Access abilities preferred but , not required.
• Good written and oral communication skills.

OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
• Willing to uphold Christian principles of HFHU.
• High level of integrity combined with ability to make bold and timely decisions.
• Available to work between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday, and sometimes weekends.
