Greenest City is a community-based organization dedicated to environmental stewardship that connects communities. Our innovative programs connect people to local food, to each other, and to opportunity. In the past four years Greenest City has focused on growing local food and local leaders as a key to healthy community development in Parkdale. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Administrative and Events Assistant will provide administrative service and support to Greenest City staff and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities
• Use word processing and Excel spreadsheet to prepare budgets, reports, memos, letters and other documentation
• Input invoices, payments and accounts receivable into QuickBooks
• Help organize and maintain office supplies, systems and files
• Answer the telephone, take messages, greet and direct visitors, and handle mailings
• Manage budget, petty cash and receipts
• Organize, update and build the contact lists
• Assist in web site management
• Assist in the planning and running of special events and community programs
• Assist in outreach to involve community members in programs
• Assist in the maintenance of an organized and welcoming office environment

Qualifications:
• Enjoy fast paced environment and work well within it
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Creative with good problem solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
• Strong knowledge of a variety of computer programs, including the Microsoft Office suite
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets used to track Greenest City volunteer involvement and program statistics
• Experience volunteering or working in a non-profit organization considered an asset
• Knowledge of Quickbooks and/or Joomla is an asset
• Ability to speak a language relevant to the South Parkdale neighbourhood considered a strong asset
