The Carer Program
Manager position is responsible for the development of partnerships between
Carer Program coordinators, consumers, carers and health service providers at
the local level. The Carer Program Manager will work to facilitate
improved access for carers to a range of FWLHD services and to facilitate
effective communication between carers and health professionals.

The position is
responsible for the implementation of the NSW Carer (Recognition) Act 2010, and
for management of the FWLHD Carer Program.  The position involves planning
and coordination of all carer program activities and projects.

The position
oversees the implementation of strategies by the carer program to improve the
effectiveness of FWLHD in meeting the needs of carers. Strategies include
education for carers and health professionals, specific carer projects
undertaken within clinical areas, organisation of carer events and forums and
networking with a wide range of key stakeholders from government and
non-government organisations.

This position also
currently plays a key role in supporting the implementation of the National
Standards for Disability Services in FWLHD.
