Gov Masari calls for upward review of allocation from Federation Account

Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari claims his administration has no issue implementing the new national wage for employees.

Mr Masari gave the assurance on Friday when he received the current leadership of the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) state chapter.

He said that when published, the government would examine the rules and work with the state allocation to guarantee execution.

However, the governor called for an upward evaluation of the Federation Account state revenue to accommodate the current minimum wage of N30, 000.

“When the guidelines are ready, the NLC leadership in the state will be invited to ascertain the new salary structure for the workforce.

“Sincerely, I do not have problem with the new minimum wage, you know how much is being given to the states and local government councils,” he said.

Also unveiling further plans for the welfare of people, the governor said the administration would revamp the state water board to address residents ‘ water scarcity.

“The government had upgraded Ajiwa Dam, we are now working on the treatment plant and we have changed two new pumps.

“We are building another treatment plant so that we can have adequate water supply for residents.’’

Earlier, Hussaini Hamisu, the NLC chairman, informed Mr Masari they were in the House of Government to present themselves as the union’s newly elected leaders.

Mr Hamisu spoke about the state government’s pressing need for the current national minimum wage to be implemented.

He encouraged the government to centralize wage pay for staff of the Katsina State Water Board.

He also encouraged the governor to consider appointing one of the members of the union as special labor advisor. (NAN)
